As the trend
of energy saving and carbon reduction has become popular, companies have been
investing in green transformation. Therefore, TMTS 2024 will hold two green
transformation forums from March 28th to March 29th, under the guidance of the
Industrial Development Administration Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and
co-hosted by the Taiwan Machine Tool and Accessory Builders Association (TMBA)
and TechOrange. The special session of the "AI Intelligent Manufacturing
Forum 2024 - Machine Tool Industry" invited renowned domestic companies to
share cross-industry dual-axis transformation cases and propose green
energy-saving solutions for the machine tool industry.
At the first Green Transformation Forum on 28 March, Mr. Gary Wang, Director of TÜV SÜD's Green Energy and Sustainability Services, was invited to discuss the implications of the Carbon Boundary Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in terms of carbon tax, carbon fee, carbon tariff, calculating the carbon content of products and calculating the price of CBAM certificates, as well as companies' needs for verification of carbon rights under the carbon rights trading system.
As for Kevin
Wu, CEO of Nice Garden, he has used his experience in the dual-axis
transformation of the livestock industry as a farm-to-table integrator,
investing in digital transformation to establish a "good supply
chain" and then creating a "good ecosystem" through green
transformation, which not only created a "gold green building" but
also became the first pork brand to be certified with the ISO14067 carbon
footprint certification in Taiwan.
From the perspective of sustainable development of the industry, Mr. Chia-Hung Chang, Executive Director of PwC, combined with the Carbon Reduction Handbook for the Machine Tool Industry published by TMBA, proposed the corresponding carbon management strategy for machine tools, and at the same time explained that PwC has built an enterprise carbon account management platform with modular management functions to assist companies in conducting organizational carbon inventories, supply chain carbon management, product carbon footprints and tracking carbon reduction applications, so as to provide specific action plans for the machine tool industry. This is a concrete action plan for the machine tool industry.
On 29 March, TMBA hosted the 2nd Green Transformation Forum, inviting China
Steel, Delta Electronics, and the German Trade Office Taipei to share their
experiences on the dual-axis transformation of the steel industry, the
management system to improve carbon competitiveness with AI technology and the
German sustainable transformation case. As the steel industry is one of the
eight major projects listed in the first wave of CBAM, Mr Jeng, Jih-jau, Vice
President of China a Steel, explained that China Steel has adopted 5G wireless
communication technology for remote human-machine collaboration, and also adopted
the 5G (Green) strategy, which includes green process, green product, green
partner, green business and green life, to implement carbon reduction to zero
carbon and enhance the company's green and low-carbon competitiveness.
Delta's
mission is to "protect the environment, conserve energy, and love the
earth" and to implement energy conservation and carbon reduction in
corporate management and product design. This time, we invited Mr Eric Wu,
Associate Manager of the Electrical & Mechanical Business Group, to
introduce Delta's low-carbon energy solutions for smart factories, which
include carbon management systems, intelligent factory and energy management
systems, factory equipment management, intelligent energy-saving park management,
and electric vehicle charging station solutions. Ms Ellie Kan, Senior Manager
of the German Trade Office Taipei (AHK), shared Germany's experience in
low-carbon transformation of government, enterprises and the private sector,
which is a reference for promoting green transformation in China, based on the
results of Germany's long-standing practice of sustainable economy.
