At this year's TMTS 2024 exhibition, DETRON has cooperated with PMC and
KTR to collaborate on the development of a new device called the "Machine
Tool Rotary Table Drive Efficiency Testing Device." This technology,
developed in collaboration with the Precision Machinery Research and
Development Center (PMC) and DETRON, and integrating KTR's MONITEX-BT torque
sensing technology, marks the industry's first specialized device for measuring
the efficiency of rotary table drives.
The drive system of the machine tool rotary table consists of servo
motors connected to high-precision transmission mechanisms such as gear cams or
worm gears inside the work table to transmit power, thereby generating the
required high torque to drive precise motion of the workpiece. In this process,
the efficiency of the transmission directly affects energy conversion and
losses. Higher transmission efficiency means less loss during energy
conversion, which is conducive to achieving energy-saving and efficient
operation of the working table system, while also enhancing processing accuracy
and overall system reliability.
However, before this, the industry lacked suitable devices for measuring
the efficiency of rotary table drives, making it difficult to accurately grasp
the equipment's transmission efficiency. The device we developed can
conveniently achieve this purpose, allowing manufacturers to clearly understand
the transmission efficiency of the working table during the development or
product application stages. This will be extremely beneficial for product
transmission efficiency improvement and energy-saving optimization
applications.
The entire structure of the "Rotary Table Drive Efficiency Testing Device" consists of hardware for the testing apparatus and data collection and analysis software. In terms of hardware, it mainly consists of a base platform, mounting mechanism, brake providing output load to the turntable, and 2 KTR torque sensors measuring the motor end and turntable output end, as well as motor controllers and computers.
During measurement, the control system drives the servo motor to rotate the turntable, while the brake applies a load to the turntable. The torque sensors wirelessly transmit the measured speed and torque to the computer-end analysis software for real-time signal filtering, analysis, and processing to calculate the transmission efficiency and display the relevant information obtained. With the developed software, the biggest feature is that multiple torque sensors can be connected at once for data processing and calculation, to separately display measured speed, torque, and transmission efficiency, enabling simultaneous multi-station measurement and analysis.
Through PMC's integrated development solutions and KTR's high-precision
measurement equipment, the two parties have verified the efficiency of DETRON's
rotary table. This technology not only demonstrates the combination of
high-quality measurement devices and testing technology but also provides
important technical support for the industry to realize the detection of rotary
machinery transmission efficiency. We hope this innovation will drive the
industry towards higher efficiency and reliability.
